THE LAST DECADE

THE  LAST  DECADE Why we are all doomed and there is nothing we can do about it. Why do we have so few kids, and what are the consequences for society. The uncomfortable and inconvenient truth about the soon coming end of prosperity in our industrialised civilisation. Author : Lorenzo Morinho (pseudonym)  Written in year 2025 What are the imminent global threats to our society, why we are on the brink of collapse, and why there is no solution other than poverty, civil war and social breakdown. This book is about the demographic catastrophe of an ageing population, falling birth rates and a shrinking workforce, how this will lead us into a debt spiral and, combined with environmental degradation due to our absolute dependence on fossil fuels, will lead our society to a major collapse in the coming decades. Debunking the myths of our ideological society and the lies of mainstream media propaganda. A non-ideological, realistic and pragmatic vision of the world based o...

01 - WHO I AM

WHO  I  AM My name is Lorenzo and I'm in my mid-40s. I was born and raised in France. I'm a mechanical engineer. After my studies I moved to Germany, where I've lived for almost 20 years. I work in the aerospace industry in Hamburg. I've lived in the south of Spain for 4 years and I've travelled to several countries for holidays, such as Peru, Thailand, India, Brasil, so I think I can relate to other cultures and traditions around the world. My mother had 7 sisters and brothers and money was tight for her when she was growing up. She instilled in me the value of money, hard work, scarcity and saving rather than over consuming, my dad was an electrician with a decent income, I am a typical middle class white European man, well educated, never missed out on anything in my life, neither love nor attention nor money. When the Covid lockdown happened in 2020, like everyone else, I started spending a lot more time on the internet, looking for scientific presentations ab...

04 - THE FOUR MAJOR THREATS

THE  FOUR  MAJOR  THREATS TABLE OF CONTENTS: Introduction Threat #1: Our dependence on fossil fuels Threat #2: Climate Change Threat #3: Government Debt Threat #4: Demography Introduction Our industrialied civilisation is full of social systems and complex machines that are both a blessing and a curse to humanity: Our health care and public pension system is a great invention to distribute wealth and services among people of need and over time, but because we have taken it for granted for the last 70 years, no one realises that it is completely broken due to demographics and will lead to a financial disaster, and no one is willing to lose the privilege of having such a great social system, so we continue as is with added public deficit at the cost of future generations. Fossil fuels have empowered machines to do the hard mechanical work for us, providing great comfort in our daily lives, but they emit carbon dioxide which is changing the climate at an unprecedented...
